Annual Girl Scout Cookie Program
Girl Scouts sponsor two sale programs every year in order to support local troops and Councils, to offer educational programs, volunteer training and continuous support to girls and the local communities they serve.
For over 70 years, Girl Scout Cookie Sale Programs have helped girls learn invaluable skills, such as decision-making, money management, and delivering on a promise. These activities are directly related to our mission of helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident, and resourceful citizens. Each girl's participation in the cookie sale is voluntary. Most Girl Scouts enjoy the experience and look forward to taking part in these fun activities each year. Adults monitor, supervise, and guide the sale activities for all age levels, and girls always use the buddy system.

Why Do Girl Scouts Sell Cookies?
While recipes and box designs have changed over the years, selling cookies remains an important and valuable part of today's Girl Scout program. Selling cookies is directly related to helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident, and resourceful citizens. Benefits of selling cookies include:
- Customers get a great product while supporting girls in their own community.
- All proceeds support Girl Scouting in the local community.
Learning Valuable Life Skills
Many successful women say they got their start in business by selling Girl Scout Cookies. Through selling cookies, girls learn and practice valuable life skills like planning, goal-setting, and customer service. During cookie activities, girls are members of a team working toward a common goal, with each girl striving to do her best. All proceeds from the Council's cookie activities remain in the local area where cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit the girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly to subsidize the cost of providing the Girl Scout program to girls in the local area.
"Cookie revenue" helps the council:
- Recruit and train volunteer leaders- Provide financial assistance to help make Girl Scouting available for all girls
- Improve and maintain camp and other program activity sites
- Keep event/camp fees to a minimum for all members
- Sponsor special events and projects
