Girl Scout Week

Girl Scouting was founded on March 12, 1912, by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, GA. Juliette gathered 18 girls from her cousin's school and broke the conventions of the time-reaching across class, cultural, and ethnic boundaries to ensure all girls, including those with so-called disabilities, had a place to grow and develop their leadership skills.

From March 9 -15 we are celebrate Girl Scouting and are welcome our amazing communities to join us. There are PLENTY of fun activities in store as we celebrate another year of courage, confidence, and character.

Each day of the week has a different activity to show the world you are a Girl Scout. These can be done with your troop or on your own.

Spirit Sunday: Attend a service outside of your faith to learn about a different faith. Do a flag ceremony for your church service. Wear your uniform to church or temple to show your Girl Scout pride.

Motivational Monday: A Girl Scout is a sister to every Girl Scout and spreads positive vibes to everyone around. How will you motivate someone to be best person they can be?

Try-It Tuesday: A Girl Scout is always on the lookout to learn new things. Research aa badge that interests you but haven't earned yet. Then go for it and earn that new badge.

Wear-It Wednesday: Girl Scouts are proud of their accomplishments in they do and have earned. This your day to shine by wearing your Girl Scout uniform (or other Girl Scout bling) to school. Tell someone who doesn't know you are a Girl Scout something about what Girl Scouts means to you.

Thoughtful Thursday: Projecting gratitude brings feeling of peace and happiness, decreases stress, and even improves your physical health. What are you thankful for? Explore how you can earn the Girl Scout Mental Health patch.

Firepit Friday: Girl Scouts and campfires go together and to celebrate Girl Scout week there is not better way to end the week than with a campfire. What goes with campfires? S'mores and songs! No place to have a campfire? You can make s'mores inside while singing you favorite Girl Scout song.

Service Saturday: Girl Scouts are about giving back. Take this day to give back to others either with your troop, your family, or by yourself. Helping others helps yourself.
